New York is at it again. The legislature introduced\u00a0Senate Bill\u00a0<\/a>A99\u00a0in January 2019; it is an active bill, still in committee. The bill was introduced as \u201cAn act to amend the public health law, in relation to the removal of cases, contacts, and carriers of communicable diseases who are potentially dangerous to the public health.\u201d If passed into law, the bill would allow the government to detain and quarantine individuals deemed to be a threat to state and local health, which begs the question:\u00a0W<\/i>ho\u00a0<\/i>determines an actual threat? And who really are the\u00a0actual threats?\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
