It comes as their states formally appointed Democratic electors who voted for Democrat Joe Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.).<\/p>\n<p>The Pennsylvania GOP\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/pennsylvania-republican-electors-vast-their-vote-for-trump-pence_3618019.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said in a news release<\/a>\u00a0that electors met in Harrisburg to \u201ccast a conditional vote\u201d for Trump and Pence \u201cat the request of the Trump campaign.\u201d Their vote comes as Democratic electors voted in the Pennsylvania Electoral College for Biden and Harris (D-Calif.).<\/p>\n<p>The Pennsylvania GOP cited the 1960 presidential election between Richard Nixon and John F. Kennedy, who would become the eventual winner. \u201cWe took this procedural vote to preserve any legal claims that may be preserved going forward,\u201d said Pennsylvania Trump campaign chairman Bernie Comfort in a news release.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div id=\"first_in_article_ads\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>In Georgia, David Shafer, the chairman of the Georgia Republican Party, said that electors made their move today\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DavidShafer\/status\/1338542161932021762\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">because the<\/a>\u00a0\u201cPresident\u2019s lawsuit contesting the Georgia election is still pending.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Republican nominees for Presidential Elector met today at noon at the State Capitol today and cast their votes for President and Vice President,\u201d Shafer said in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DavidShafer\/status\/1338546066346676224\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter post<\/a>. \u201cHad we not meet today and cast our votes, the President\u2019s pending election contest would have been effectively mooted. Our action today preserves his rights under Georgia law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The same thing was done in Nevada, with the state\u2019s Republican electors casting their vote for Trump and Pence. In a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NVGOP\/status\/1338574820649254913\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter post<\/a>\u00a0by the Nevada Republican party, they stated \u201c<span class=\"css-901oao css-16my406 r-1qd0xha r-ad9z0x r-bcqeeo r-qvutc0\">History made today.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>And Arizona\u2019s Republican presidential electors also voted for Trump and Pence, according to the state\u2019s GOP party.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div id=\"in_article_ads_0\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Electoral College votes are cast on Dec. 14 before they are counted on Jan. 6 during the Joint Session of Congress when the House of Representatives and Senate meet.<\/p>\n<p>After states have completed their vote counts and gathered the official results, \u201cthe U.S. Code (3 U.S.C. \u00a76)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/crsreports.congress.gov\/product\/pdf\/IF\/IF11641\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">requires the state governors<\/a>\u00a0to prepare, \u2018as soon as practicable,\u2019 documents known as Certificates of Ascertainment of the vote.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe certificates must list the names of the electors chosen by the voters and the number of votes received in the popular election results, also the names of all losing candidates for elector, and the number of votes they received,\u201d according to the Congressional Research Service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCertificates of Ascertainment, which are often signed by state governors, must carry the seal of the state. One copy is forwarded to the Archivist of the United States while six duplicates of the Certificate of Ascertainment must be provided to the electors by December 14, the date on which they meet.\u201d<\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div id=\"in_article_ads_1\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.cornell.edu\/uscode\/text\/3\/15\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">According<\/a>\u00a0to the U.S. Code, when the House and Senate meet, they have to look into \u201call the certificates and papers purporting to be certificates of the electoral votes.\u201d Several Republican members of Congress have said they would attempt to object to the counting of the Electoral College votes for a state, which would then trigger a series of debates and votes.<\/p>\n<p>White House adviser Stephen Miller told Fox News on Dec. 14 that alternate groups of electors were being chosen in several states, claiming that it would lead to Trump\u2019s reelection.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe only date in the Constitution is January 20.
