Zika: Update from Brazil: Towering Non-Evidence
As the numbers continue to come in from Brazil on the Zika virus, it is becoming evident that there is absolutely no reason for hysteria.
Here are the principal facts in the article (after which I’ll comment):
* As of January 30, 2015, 4,783 suspected cases of microcephaly were reported in Brazil.
* Of those 4,783 suspected cases of microcephaly, covering the entire country of Brazil, 3,670 are being investigated.
* Of those 3,670, 404 cases have been confirmed as microcephaly or “other alterations in the central nervous system” of babies.
* Of those 404 cases, 17 “had a relationship with zika virus.”
* 98% of the 404 microcephaly cases come from the Northeast area of Brazil, and in that area, Pernambuco has the highest number of cases: 56.

Mitch McConnell Wants to Give Obama Unlimited War Powers
Make no mistake, this doesn’t grant Obama the authority to strike ISIS. This gives him unlimited war powers in the broadest sense.
Earlier this week, Senator Mitch McConnell fast tracked a bill written by Senator Lindsey Graham, which would give Obama the Authority to officially deploy our military against ISIS and then some.
In other words, this AUMF wouldn’t just give Obama permission strike ISIS anywhere in the world. It gives him the ability to deploy our military anywhere in the world, foreign or domestic, for an undetermined period of time, at the mere suggestion that ISIS is there. And it won’t be hard for them to prove ISIS is there, since anyone can wave their flag and carry out attacks in their name.

Zika first made international headlines earlier this month when it was linked to severe brain damage in newborns after nearly 4,000 babies were born in Brazil in the past year with unusually small heads, an incurable condition known as microcephaly.
Zika is spreading rapidly throughout the Americas and the Caribbean, and is expected to reach the U.S. by late spring or early summer.
