New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said he was “proud” of his daughter after the 25-year-old was reportedly arrested in Manhattan for blocking traffic during citywide protests in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd.
“We asked her to recount the whole story. I love my daughter deeply, I honor her. She only wants to do good in the world. She believes a lot of change is needed. I’m proud of her that she cares so much that she’s willing to go out there and do something about it,” said de Blasio.
“She was acting peacefully. She believes that everything she did was in the spirit of respectful protest… I’ll let her speak for herself, but I admire that she was out there trying to change something that she thought was unjust,” he added.
