During remarks at the White House on Thursday, President Trump expressed his grief over the tragedy, highlighting that he would meet with relevant authorities to deal with the issue of mental health. Trump, however, did not mention guns or gun control during his prepared statement. “Our administration is working closely with local authorities to investigate the shooting and learn everything we can. We are committed to working with state and local leaders to help secure our schools and tackle the difficult issue of mental health.” President Trump said he’s making plans to travel to Florida to meet the victims and local officials. Seventeen people were killed and 14 other injured — three seriously — in Wednesday’s attack. The 19-year-old shooter has been charged with premeditated murder.
